Yup, that looks great.

Nice job.

Spent tonight playing with an idea for the truss rod cover. Made the cover from a piece of Brazilian from the side set and added some heartwood for purfling. Now I kinda like the look but wondering if is a tad too large - what do you think?

I plan on inlaying 3 pearl dots from large to small to keep the design of the fretboard but not to take away from the diamond inlays. Will probably inlay my name on the headstock so no other inlay on the headstock.

Rich, this is the first time you and I part company on this great looking guitar. My preference is for small truss rod covers that blend nicely with the headstock so that they are virtually invisible.

Having said that. If you go with the cover shown -- would you hear comments like "great looking guitar and execution...shame about the truss rod cover"? Not a chance! Well at least not from me

I really like the cover! It's clean and imaginative! I haven't seen one like it!

Might be big? Might be small? But the shape is cool!

Very nice warm contrast between the sides, binings and top. I use the
thinner Abalone purfling on my top edges most times. I really like the way
it still catches all of the light and gives off that beautiful color, but in a
more elegant thin line that seems to become more of an integrated part
of the purfling scheme rather than the centerpiece of it all.

Beautiful wood an equally beautiful work. I look for ward to seeing
more as it comes along. Seeing photos like this really make me anxious
to get back into my shop and back to work.

Physical therapy is comong along , but range of movement and
strength seem to be coming back to my shoulder a bit slower than I
wanted. If nothing else, I'll sharpen my patience through this whole thing.

Thanks for posting them,
Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars

[QUOTE=Anthony Z] Rich, this is the first time you and I part company on this great looking guitar. My preference is for small truss rod covers that blend nicely with the headstock so that they are virtually invisible.

Truly appreciate your feedback Tony and that is why I asked. Heck, I still wear black socks with blue pants some times

My other thought was to simly use a piece of the brazilian with no purfling and inlay 3 dots. Not clear on what you are saying - would you eliminate the purling and go with just the rosewood, and make it as small as possible? Or would you keep the purlfling and simply shrink the size?? I thought it was a bit too large but by brother in law liked it which swayed my thinking.

How about some other comments out there??? What would you do?

The good news is, this is pretty easy to make a few different ones and experiment. The one I made prior to this one was with the heartwood running up the center but I didnt like that one either.

Maybe I will create a couple more and run a poll.

Thanks again Tony and the others for the feedback

Hi Rich -- I should have explained better.

The size for my taste would be fine without purfling and inlay which would blend the truss rod cover with the headstock very nicely. Again that's me and my taste or lack thereof. Either way you go -- it isn't going to make or break this great looking guitar.

Billy likes it.

(As an aside I really prefer being called Anthony as opposed to Tony. For the OLF it's probably better because their is a hack that lurks here called Tony Karol. I would hate to be confused with him.    I am sure he feels likewise ).

Rich, I find myself--again--agreeing with Anthony.
I don't like truss rod covers.
I much prefer the head to be blank. (Well, except for the tuners and logo.)
So when I finally switched over to making the truss rod adjustable from the head, I made my t/r cover as inconspicuous as possible. Small as I can make it, and of the same material as the p/h overlay. I even finish them all the way out, and put a recessed black screw to further hide their obtrusiveness.

For me it's a double concession--to the modern convenience of a head-adjustable t/r, and the clean look of the more traditional head.

But again, like Anthony said, we're not going to flame you if you choose otherwise!

Steve
